Tiger population

There are eight subspecies of tigers at once, but three became extinct in the twentieth century. Over the past 100 years, poaching and deforestation have reduced the number of tigers from millions to less than 2,500. Tigers are hunted as trophies and for body parts used in traditional Chinese medicine. The remaining five tiger subspecies are endangered and several conservation programs are underway.

Bengal tigers live in India and are sometimes called Indian tigers. They make up about half of the most common tigers and wild tigers. They have become an important part of Indian tradition and story over the centuries

Behavior

Tigers live alone and aggressively identify large areas to deter their opponents. They are powerful night travelers who travel many miles to find buffalo, deer, wild boar and other large mammals. Tigers use their distinctive coats as cover (both do not have the same stripes). They are waiting to attack the victims with a sudden spring and a deadly leap. Hungry tigers can eat up to 60 pounds a night, but they usually eat less.

Despite its frightening reputation, most tigers are far removed from humans; However, it turns out to be some dangerous monitors. These animals are often sick, usually unable to hunt, or live in an area where traditional bait has disappeared.Children cannot hunt until they are 18 months old and stay with their mothers for two to three years when they are scattered to find their own territory.

Feed

The strength of the Bengal tiger is evident when one observes its impact during hunting. This carnivore searches for medium or large food, mainly uncontrolled mammals. In their diet, gorhoya, water buffalo, sambar, chital or broken deer, wild boar and other species of deer are important. They occasionally eat small bait such as rabbits and pigeons and can even attack pets; This is the consequence of an attack on their habitat. Bengal tigers can eat up to 40 kg at a time, although they usually eat only small amounts.

Since they could not chase the bait too far, they used a tactic that combined theft and forgetfulness. In the sunlight, the tiger hides in the tall grass and chases an animal. The camouflage is very effective and can be seen at a distance of a few meters from the suspected bait tiger. When it is ready, it silently attacks the victim's side or back and jumps rapidly, biting the shrinking nails or neck. The animal can be dragged several meters to eat or the body can even be carried into the water.

Threats and integration

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) says the Bengal tiger is endangered. Although it is the most populous species, its numbers are declining rather than increasing, which is of concern to environmental organizations.

Distribution and habitats

The largest population of Bengal tigers is in India, but there are some smaller groups in Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. It can also occur in places like China and Burma. According to the World Tiger Rescue Program, there are about 440 in Bangladesh, 155 in Nepal and 75 in Bhutan. The approximate number of samples is less than 2,500.

However, according to the latest census of 2016, there are 106 tigers in Bangladesh, 103 in Bhutan, 198 in Nepal and 2,226 in India. This information has not been verified from government sources and by independent agencies.

Bengal tigers belong to the tropical rainforests, wetlands and high grasslands.
