♦ White Terracotta (Latin Terminalia arjuna) is a tree that grows in India. It is widely used as a medicine in Ayurveda. It is also known as Arjuna Patri. It is also known as 'Maddi'. It is available in white and red. This leaf belongs to this tree. This leaf is the 19th in the series of Varasiddhivinayaka Ekavinshati Patri Pooja performed on the day of Vinayaka Chaviti. The scientific name of this deciduous tree is Terminalia arjuna.

♦ In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, Terminalia arjuna has used to balance the three “temperament”: kapha, pitta, and vata. It has also been used for cureing asthma, bile duct disorders, scorpion stings, and poisonings. The barks of Terminalia arjuna has been used in India for more than 3000 years, primarily as a heart remedies.

Features

♦ Arjuna is a tree that grows to a height of 60 to 80 feet. Its bark is white. Hence it is called whitewash.

♦ A white discharge comes from the bark.

♦ In Ayurvedic medicine, Arjuna bark is used in heart diseases.

♦ Large deciduous tree with smooth gray bark.

♦ Leaves simple, oblong, oblong, obovate, glabrous.
